The key here is to poke, drill, or otherwise, make a tiny hole in the area that covers your microphone. Depending on your case, this may be covered by any thickness of plastic, rubber, etc. Look at your case, and locate that area on the case. The mic for phone calls, and speaker phone, is the second hole from the left on the bottom. (If there's no difference, chances are you need a mic repair.) Take your case off and do the test again to hear the difference.Listen to it so you can hear how muffled you are. Open Voice Memos and make a "Testing 1,2,3" recording.(It's also how to get an iPhone 7 case to work with your newer mic.) This will void your warranty on any case you're using however, it is a viable fix for the case blocking the microphone and muffling the sound. There are people in situations where double-duty would probably be a big bonus, but the majority of us are happy that accidentally dropping it in the toilet should be no big deal even if there's no case on it.ĭisclaimer: You are not doing anything to your phone ONLY the case. IPhone 8, 8Plus, and X are all waterproof, so having a waterproof case is basically double duty. (Had to post a new "question" since all relevant discussions are closed to replies.) ![]() ![]() Not exactly a question, but a fix/solution for people with this issue.
